Re-Reading Milton Re-Reading Shakespeare: 10th Annual Milton Lecture
February 24 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
$5 – $10This year’s Annual Milton Lecture – the first to be presented online – may be of particular interest to Philadelphia’s readers, with the Free Library’s First Folio playing a starring role.
Join us for a transatlantic discussion between Jason Scott-Warren (University of Cambridge) and Claire M. L. Bourne (Pennsylvania State University). In 2019 they made headlines around the world when they published research showing that the long-unknown annotator of the Shakespeare First Folio, held by the Free Library of Philadelphia, was almost certainly Milton.
Sharing new insights about their exciting discovery, this year’s lecturers offer a rare first-hand encounter between two of our greatest writers. E-tickets cost £10, with all proceeds supporting Milton’s Cottage – the only surviving residence of John Milton – during a year of ongoing Covid-19 disruptions. Booking is via EventBrite:
