Shadowspeak Virtual Book Launch

February 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for the virtual book launch of Shadowspeak by local author Raven Eckman.
“At the age of ten, RUNE was sold to the ostracized city of Vǫrðr (“Wraith”) by her father for an unknown debt he couldn’t pay. After spending six years in servitude at the city’s brothel, she now lives in a tiny cottage by the isle port of Arden with her wolf companion, BIRGER; spending her time as a barkeeper while trying to piece together her fractured mind and ignore the shadows that haunt her every move.
But when the youngest prince of the royal family is captured and taken to Wraith as a sacrifice for the city’s Bloodletting ritual to the gods, Rune is confronted by her brother, ANIK (21) and asked to help rescue the prince.
In Wraith, the celebration is well underway. Rune takes everyone to visit the local witch and has the others drugged to put her plan into motion – sell herself for the prince for Agata. Back under the clutches of MISTRESS AGATA, Rune finds herself once again taking part in the rituals of Wraith, forced to participate as a high priestess during the Bloodletting, and later confronting her estranged father who reveals more than she bargains for – after she kills him.
While escaping Wraith for the second time, Rune she finds out how twisted her reality really is.
Back in Arden, the young prince is safely returned but the stakes grow as Rune is invited to a special Carnivale performance as a way of false apology by Wraith to Arden’s king. The Carnivale starts off with a trial that condemns Rune’s second mother, and Agata’s husband for the prince’s kidnapping and framing Wraith. Both are killed and Rune is later visited by a former friend in Wraith, who brings the memories full circle.
In the end Rune returns to Wraith a third time, confronts and kills Agata during a ceremony of celebration, and manages to free herself and the shadows that had been trapped by a deal with a god gone wrong.”
