A Birthday to be Remembered: Yvonne Battle-Felton’s Birthday Book Club
October 4 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pmFree
It’s my birthday and I’m having a party! I hope you’ll help me celebrate!
Please join me for a 90-minute book celebration! I’ll be reading from Remembered and from my novel in progress. I’ll also be discussing writing and answering questions. There will be actors reading short sections of Remembered to preview Audiobook Live! The February celebration of the US paperback edition and the audiobook. There will also be a recommended menu inspired by food in the book and book-theme party favors (favours), though these may be digital.
About the book:
It’s 1910 Philadelphia. The city is burning with tension and violence. Edward, a black man, has driven a streetcar through a shop window. But why? Some say he was working for the Union. Some say for the Company. The police want answers, the community wants answers, his mother just wants him to live through the night.
With the help of her dead sister, Spring is forced to revisit a painful past in order to lead Edward home.
Longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction and short listed for the Jhalak Prize, Remembered is a story about memory, stories, motherhood, haunting, and love.
